Gliptone Classic Car Racing
Gliptone Leathercare are very pleased to have sponsored a very successful Classic Jaguar racing team for the last couple of years. Gliptone’s Managing Director has always been a keen Jaguar fan, having owned in the past XK150s, E Types and a Mk2, he even Banger raced a Mk 2 3.8 in the 1980’s. Peter still likes Jags; the company has 2 X type Estates.

And that’s not all, Gliptone supplied Jaguar with Conditioner until Connolly Bros complained, without any justification. When Connolly Bros closed down and a new leather supplier was appointed, it was found that it was their Connolly “Hide Food” that was detrimental to the care of leather. But we still have associations with Jaguar/Land Rover through their seat supplier, Gliptone’s Scuffmaster dyes are used in the factory for repairing slight imperfections and minor accidental damage, that’s why we have the trim colours for new Jaguars and Land Rover vehicles, even before they are introduced.

A full program of the 2011 racing dates and venues is on this page, there will be a race meeting somewhere near you and it’s not all Jags, there’s a full variety of classics from Mini’s to Mustangs. Many events allow access to the pits and close inspection of the cars, this makes the day more interesting. There’s a good mix of thrills, it’s a fantastic day out.
Gliptone sponsor the Dorlin team which race one dark blue MK2 and two white XJ6’s, a coupe, a saloon and a green XJ, the cars are driven by Richard Dorlin, his son Peter Dorlin and Dave Bye, all the cars are prepared by West Riding Jaguar Ltd. It’s a very successful team having won both 2005 and 06 Saloon Car Championships, in 2008 they won the D class Saloon Car Championship which is for fully modified cars, so far this year they have won 2 races and come second in the others.
I wish them all the best for the future!
